This book illustrates the inspirational footballing career of Ryan Giggs, known by many as the legend of Manchester United. Co-written by Joe Lovejoy, Giggs: An Autobiography also touches on the footballer’s intriguing personal life. Slowly but surely, the book uncovers Giggs’ illustrious career and achievements, and details how a humble Wales boy grew up to be the hero of many.
I liked this book a lot as it relates how he felt after every match and the reactions of his manager and teammates. He also reveals personal untold stories like how the team was caught slacking during a training trip and Giggs was banned from partying by the team’s manager.
The book reads as if it were Giggs himself intimately and humorously telling you his life story. I liked the way the book begins with the celebration of winning the Champion’s League, which effectively shows Giggs at his best. A rather unique opening for a biography, with the rest of the footballer’s story told in flashbacks.
The co-author, Joe Lovejoy, also brings insights and an insider’s knowledge of football that was necessary to capture Giggs’ hallowed career.
